Skydiving for IC
As most of you know, I have interstitial cystitis, also known as painful bladder syndrome, which is a painful and debilitating disease that causes extreme pain in the bladder lining, frequent (sometimes 60 times a day!) and urgent urination, and bladder control issues. IC has no known cause or cure to date.
i have had bladder issues since before I can remember, but have experienced the pain for the last 15 years, with it gradually getting worse and stripping away, not only my life, but my identity too.
I'm 31 years old, love animals, love to travel and explore new places! But over the last year, I have spent more of my life in bed, in too much pain to move, than actually living.
On August 24th 2018, I am having an operation called a supertrigonal cystectomy with neobladder and mitrofinoff...
In non medical terms, they are removing my bladder and making me a new one using part of my bowels, that will sit inside me.
This is terrifying. But I'm hoping and praying it will give me my life back.
Because I'm so scared, I thought I'd do something even more scary. And what could be scarier than jumping out of a plane!
On August 4th 2018, I will be jumping from a plane (with a parachute of course!) at Hinton airfield near Brackley. Training starts at 8.30am.
Feel free to come and watch me fall, scream and maybe cry!
I will be paying for the skydive myself, so all money raised will go straight to Bladder Health UK. Every penny could help...
The money raised could help to find and fund more effective treatments for interstitial cystitis, so that, in the future, others won't have to go through what I, and many others do...
If you can donate, thank you... Even £1 would be appreciated. If you can't, thank you anyway. But please can you share this. I'd love to reach as many people as I can.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, I'm very grateful.
