Go Green & YnNi teg Charity Bike Ride
YnNi Teg is a new Welsh community energy project with a newly commissioned wind turbine. Our 900kW EWT DW54 wind turbine near Carmarthen in south Wales was commissioned on time and budget on 2nd August 2017. It stands on a 40m tower, has a 56 metre blade span, and we are expecting it to generate about 2000 MWh of electricity per year (enough for about 650 homes).
Our mission is to help Wales develop a clean energy future, mitigate climate change by installing renewable energy generation, and to do this in a fair and democratic way by spreading the ownership and benefits across the community rather than concentrated in the hands of the few. YnNi Teg is a Community Benefit Society, meaning that anyone (aged 16+) can become a member by purchasing shares hence become a part-owner of a wind turbine. 90-mile charity bike ride
On Friday 13th October 2017, the Directors of YnNi Teg are joining a national day of action by going green in support of climate change charity, Size of Wales, whilst also launching our own community share offer for our wind turbine project in Carmarthenshire. We'll be joining hundreds of people across Wales to raise funds to help protect an area of tropical forest twice the size of our nation.
We will be taking part in a sponsored bike ride from our wind turbine in Meidrim, Carmarthenshire, all the way to Cardiff – a total of about 90 miles! We will be dressed in green so it’ll be easy to spot us en route!! When we arrive in Cardiff, we will be officially launching our community share offer as part of the Size of Wales event at the Tramshed.
Follow our progress during the day at Facebook.com/YnNiTeg, or @YnNiTeg on Twitter!
