Swim-Run-Swim to Get a Lifeboat
Pyrenees: Hendaye to Banyuls-sur-Mer
People drown every day due to lack of lifeboat services. Please support my run to help provide lifeboats where there are none.

I am a Danish graduate of the United World College of the Atlantic ("AC") atlanticcollege.org, whose mission is to promote international understanding and World peace by letting students from all over the world live, study, and undertake community services together.
In 2001 I rowed across the Atlantic Ocean (yantu.com) with a Chinese friend in 56 days to showcase that cross-cultural cooperation can succeed anywhere if you trust each other and have a common goal. We raised USD88k, which provided two Chinese students with scholarships to AC.
I am lucky to have a supportive wife and about 1.5 months of spare time so that I now can undertake a new adventure. I've chosen to do a run as it does not take much equipment and it is quick to organise (my wife is French, so it's kinda cool to run the Pyrenees).
I've chosen to support AtlanticPacific.org.uk because they provide rescue services to those who already have little or no hope even before they need rescuing at sea. It won't change the world, but it will prevent someone's parent or someone's child from dying. And to me, that's worth a small hike.
If you feel the same, please donate generously :-)
Running the Pyrenees from Atlantic to Med.
In honor of AC Beach Rescue Service and its ethos "Vigilance and Service" a.k.a. "We might be stupid, but we are bloody strong", I have re-invented the Run-Swim-Run as a Swim-Run-Swim, with a slightly longer Run, thereby lessening the risk of needing a helicopter rescue at sea.
I'll start with a 200m swim at Hendaye in the Atlantic, then a 860km run along the Pyrenees, and finish with a 200m swim at Banyuls-sur-Mer in the Med.
It is easier to predict the time for the swims than the run, but the 860km run (along the GR10 route) with a total elevation of 50km should take about 40 days. I aim to finish latest 7 July.
Starting 22 May is a bit early in the season so snow in the mountains may be an issue, but will melt as I get across. Weather is likely to be the biggest challenge.
I will be running with a 5kg backpack with basic necessities and staying in guesthouses / shelters along the way.
Sometimes the path goes through villages where I can get on-line to post updates.
