Over the years, I have regularly taken part in several charity events; from running 10K's to walking up to 40 miles for charities such as Race 4 Life and ABF The Soldiers' charity.
Late last year, I decided to increase my running mileage and thought the best way to achieve this was by join a running club. Werrington Joggers.
After joining WJ I decided to take on a new and exciting challenge and after great thought I decided to take part in a Duathlon. I know it may not sound like much of a challenge, but (when you hate biking) believe me it is. As I usually fund raise for larger organisations, I started looking into local charities. Luckily, WJ sent out an email of their chosen charity (NGNPUK) for the year. I looked into their cause and came to the conclusion that it would be perfect. In the last couple of years, I have lost a number of families and colleagues who needed palliative care, but had to use hospice, which have provided excellent care, but I know if given a choice, they would have preferred to be at home, surrounded by family and close friends.
We have all lost loved ones at some point in our lives to palliative care. Please help me alleviate their pain.
PACTRAC Peterborough Duathlon
So what am I doing?
I will be partaking in a Duathlon, in which I will run 4 miles, bike 18 miles and finish by running a further 2.5 miles. This event is being organised by PACTRAC and taking place in Castor, both running and biking up the famous"Love Hill" Castor and its surrounding areas.
I know I put my fundraising target of £200
when a machine cost £1100, but there is no stopping me getting donations way beyond my target.
