I am a musician in the Ulster Orchestra, who took up cycling again some years ago to counter middle age spread. In recent times I have been cycling longer distances, and last year completed a day ride of 450 km round all the major loughs in Northern Ireland. This year I have started riding audaxes, which are organised, self-supported long distance rides.
The Wild Atlantic Way Audax - 2100 km in 175 hours
The Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland is the longest defined coastal touring route in the world, stretching from Kinsale in County Cork to Derry in County Londonderry. The Wild Atlantic Way Audax follows this route up the West coast of Ireland for 2100 km. Starting on Friday 17th June at 6 am, riders will have 175 hours (just over 7 days) to complete it.
I am happy to report that I successfully completed the challenge within the time limit, coming in at 173 hours, 25 minutes and 25 seconds!
I have now written a blog about my adventure, which can be read at http://wawa2016.macademy.co.uk
Please give generously to help protect the children of Onialeku.
