About

As a local GP practice we see the impact of Mental health problems in our community on a daily basis, and would like to raise awareness and improve the experience of patients in the inpatient psychiatry unit at Edgware.

Patients with mental health problems are at highest risk of becoming socially isolated and physically inactive, with detrimental consequences to their health and wellbeing, and life expectancy as a result.

With this in mind, we are joining the fundraising campaign started by the Hampstead Suburb Freechurch charity who are raising funds for the Dennis Scott unit, so that inpatients have more social activities and access to recreational facilities (such as an outdoor gym), to help boost their physical  and mental health

All money raised via our page for this charity will go to their Dennis Scott Unit funding campaign for the benefit of patients.

Event details

WATFORD 10K

Several staff have been training over the winter months (despite the snow!) to do the Watford 10K on Monday 7th May with the united aim of fundraising to help improve the health and well being of psychiatric inpatients at our local hospital.

We have lots of staff who have never done a 10k taking part this year! We have first time runners who are doing the Couch to 5k training plan, and hoping they will stretch to 10k on race day! And we have some more experienced 10k runners!

We currently have 15 staff already signed up for the 10k!!  These include our:

  • Reception team (Lynn, Sarah, Claire)
  • Secretaries (Avril)
  • Nurses (Paula)
  • Doctors (Dr Aslam, Dr Kahn, Dr Khanbhai, Dr Moore, Dr A Patel, Dr A Shah, Dr M Shah, Dr Saldanha, and Dr Suleman)
  • Practice Manager (Sanja)

In addition, another 9 family members of Watling Staff from children to other halves will be also be doing the 10K run or the Children's 1K or 3k to help support our cause too!

Thank you for your support in this campaign to help inpatients at Edgware's Dennis Scott unit.

Yours Sincerely

Watling medical centre
