Climbing Ben Nevis for Alzheimer's - SHE DID IT!
SHE DID IT!
Our car died, our tent expired, everyone was cold (remember cold?) and very wet and more than a bit grumpy, but there was no way Violet wasn't making it to the top of that mountain. Her sister Alice was with her every step of the way; she gets none of the glory and is great too.
Thanks for all the generous donations and wonderful comments.
In 2016, 6 year old Violet climbed Snowdon - Wales' tallest mountain - to raise money for her local foodbank charity.
Now Violet is 8 years old and wants to climb Ben Nevis - Britain’s tallest mountain - for the Alzheimer's Society and for her Grandad. Her sister and grandparents are coming too.
We've picked the Alzheimer's Society because they're a part of our lives all of a sudden. It's a support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers.
They're a good charity and it's a good cause.
Also, because we want to support Violet in this. In between asking for ice cream and complaining she's bored, she has a sincerely felt and admirable desire to help people.
Violet is climbing Ben Nevis
Violet will climb Ben Nevis, all 4,411 feet of it, the weekend of 27-29 July.
Please sponsor her.
Violet doesn't have much of an idea of the value of money - so you don't have to give a lot - but she'd love it if lots of people could sponsor her anything at all.
Having said that, Violet raised just over a thousand pounds last time, we'd love to beat that.
Special bonus event: We'll also be doing the Alzheimer's Society's Watford Memory Walk on 15 September. You can use this page for that too. Thank you.
(We were originally supposed to be climbing the mountain with Violet's friend Erin. She can't make the date so will be climbing it herself later in the year.)
The page will be open for six months after the climb.
Note to non-taxpayers: you can always make your gift via someone who pays tax, which means you can tick the gift aid box.
(We've used MyDonate for this page because they don't charge any fees on donations)
DON'T FORGET TO TICK THE GIFT AID BOX!
