The Tour De Vent Team (Duncan & Jack Freke and Greg Annis) are off again. This year Simon Keen is joining them, he missed the 2015 event with the excuse of being hospitalised after breaking his back in a few places when training- OK, that was a good excuse! The accident prone Simon had a car crash in 2008, and through the great work of the ambulance team, fire-brigade and SIMCAS Doctor (John Chaterjee), Simon's life was saved. St.Richard's Hospital Team in Chichester were ace too- the surgeon and nursing staff. Hence SIMCAS being our nominated charity. SIMCAS are a great bunch of dedicated people who frequently save lives and are a key part of the emergency services, you never know when you will be unfortunate enough to need them!
10days cycle pain from UK to South of France
The map can be viewed above, we leave Otford on Thurs 23rd June early hours, and cycle a challenging route to Collioure in the South of France- arriving on Sat 2nd July evening. We will cycle 905 miles in 10 days, with a total amount of climbing of 57,000 feet- the equivalent of up Mount Everest, twice- eek! We will be ably assisted with a support vehicle and the fantastic help of Tina Freke & Jane Boppert, and we will be well stocked with spare inner tubes, gels and, of course, creams- or is that too much detail :-)!
