Eight go to Morocco
On 31 January Alison Shannon, Alyson Bayly, Collette Rumble, Dee Cantillon, Helen Wright, Sam Myers, Soraya Tomkins and Susie Martinez will be heading out to Morocco in an attempt to summit North Africa's highest mountain Mount Toubkal. This will be a huge physical challenge for each of us, we will spend days hiking to aclimatise, bed will be a sleeping bag with the actual ascent commencing in the middle of the night in freezing temperatures! add to that we have never used an ice axe or crampons before!
Our drive to reach the summit will be that we are trekking in aid of 40Tude a charity dedicated to raising awareness and finding a cure for Colon Cancer which is the 3rd most common cancer worldwide after lung and breast cancer. It is the 2nd most common cancer in the UK. 1 in 17 people in the UK are at risk of developing the disease; which is easily treated if caught early.
We very much hope that you will be able to contribute to our fundraising page. We have set a "Toubkal Eight Target” of £8,000 . Please please dig deep and help us reach this target on behalf of the charity.
Thank you so much for your support
Mt Toubkal Ascent, Winter 2018
For 40tude’s inaugural mountaineering challenge a team of 26 novice mountaineers attempted a summit of Mount Toubkal, Northern Africa’s highest mountain, in early February 2018.
Our ascent of the mountain in winter, using crampons and ice axes to keep safe in the deep snow and wind, was physically and mentally challenging - definitely a great personal achievement for all who took part.
Thank you for your kind support of the expedition team who were brave enough to take on 40tude's first-ever mountaineering challenge - an amazing achievement.
