Tom and Bea's Big Walk
Nearly 140 years ago, a young man came to Horsted Keynes as a labourer, and found work constructing the Lewes & East Grinstead Railway. When the construction was over, and by now married to a local girl, he obtained a job on the same railway, and for the next 25 years he was involved in maintaining the track between Sheffield Park and Horsted Keynes of what is now the Bluebell Railway.
That man was my great grandfather. As a Bluebell Railway fireman, I am privileged to be able to work on our engines along that beautiful railway that he helped to construct and maintain. Now, I hope to do my bit to preserve the railway for the next decades of its existence. By sponsoring Bea and I in walking the eleven miles of the Bluebell Railway, you will help the railway ensure that the line can continue to operate for the enjoyment of future generations. We are aiming to raise £250 - enough to relay one foot of the railway.

Bluebell Railway Track Trek 2017
Many thanks to everyone who took part in the Bluebell Railway's 5th sponsored "Track Trek", an 11 mile walk between East Grinstead and Sheffield Park stations on Saturday 18 November 2017.
The walk took place during the daytime, raising money for the Tr(ack) Action Appeal, that was formally launched in October. This is an appeal set up to raise £250,000 for the renewal of track along parts of the Railway. The target for the Track Trek is to raise £15,000 which will buy a new 60 foot track panel.
A complimentary bus service operated to take trekkers from Sheffield Park to East Grinstead in the morning and then back to their original starting point at the end of the Track Trek.
Participants registered in advance for the Trek. Details of this are available at www.bluebell-railway.me.uk/fund/TrackTrek2017.pdf
