Raising money for
I’ve just signed up, really late, to try and cycle over the Alps with the amazing ‘Thighs Of Steel’ team! In six days we’ll be travelling 700km from Lyon to Milan, climbing a worrying 10,500m in the process. On day two we’ll be battling through the snow to the top of the Col du Mont Cenis… 2081m above sea level. There’s three weeks to go and i’m nowhere near as fit as i need to be.
But, there is no cause more worthwhile! We are fundraising for Help Refugees, a charity who fund grassroots, refugee-focused organisations across Europe. The specific organisation we have chosen is ’Khora', a small, proactive co-operative, made up of volunteers from all over the world, including the local Greek community, the refugee community and other international volunteers. One of those volunteers is my amazing sister who is currently living in Istanbul and working at Small Projects Istanbul (www.smallprojectsistanbul.org) which aims to provide a home and education for displaced Syrian woman and children.
Buy me a metaphorical pint, bet me i can’t do it, back the ill-prepared underdog... please help me raise as much money as possible for this fantastic cause.
Thighs of Steel 2017
We are fundraising for Help Refugees, who fund small grassroots refugee organisations. The specific group we are fundraising for is Khora, a co-operative made up of volunteers from all over the world, including the local Greek community, the refugee community and other international volunteers. Their community centre in Athens provides not only basic needs such as free nutritious food, warm clothing and access to dental care, but also social needs such as education, child care, access to information and a safe space to build relationships and relax.
