The Gene Genies
We are cycling 50 miles from Callander to Killin and back on the 30 April 2016, to raise funds for the Flutterby FUNdraisers and CF research.
Raising money for
Flutterby FUNdraisers for cystic fibrosis
Donations accepted until 11-02-2017
The Gene Genies team comprises two scientists, Chris Boyd and Laura Hyndman both of whom work in the UK Cystic Fibrosis Gene Therapy Consortium (GTC) laboratories at Edinburgh University, and two of their supporters, Phil Chester and Trevor Mackay. The other GTC labs are located in Oxford University and Imperial College London. Our research is focused on the development of gene therapies for CF. Encouraging results from the GTC's recent clinical trial, involving CF patients from Scotland and the rest of the UK, were published last year in Lancet Respiratory Medicine. Through Flutterby FUNdraisers, we are raising further funding to help pay for our continuing research into gene therapy for CF.
Callander Cycle Challenge
The Callander Cycle Challenge is organised by Motherwell & Wishaw Rotary Club and has been set up with a choice of routes ranging from a fun, family cycle event up to a serious cycling challenge. Come and enjoy spectacular scottish scenery within the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, while cycling one of three route options. Start and finish point is Callander, a beautiful bustling tourist town situated on the River Teith, near Stirling, often described as the gateway to the Highlands.
