Event details

Rowing across Scotland

Having rowed 21 miles across the English Channel in 2012, we wanted to set the bar higher. This time we are attempting three times that distance by rowing 60 miles across Scotland alongthe Great Glen. From Inverness to Fort William, we'll be rowing through four lochs (including an 'inland sea' otherwise known asLoch Ness), 29 locks and will be rowing for 24 hours in the space of 36 hours (the canal closes otherwise, obviously we'd go all night). We estimate it's going to be pretty tough. The crew are taking on this challenge in memory of Chris' father in law, Martyn, who sadly passed away this April, only 6 weeks after being diagnosed with leukaemia. Martyn was very supportive of our first row, and he gave much of his own time to charitable causes.

Well done to you all. I thought crossing the channel was incredible but rowing across Scotland surpasses that. If you would like a new challenge its only 24km to row between the north and south islands of New Zealand
