About

Our daughter Poppy was born in August 2017 with a rare congenital birth defect that affects every 1 in 3,500 babies called a Trache-Oesophageal Fistula (TOF). TOF is a small abnormal connection that connect her oesophagus (food pipe) to her trachea (wind pipe) which caused food and liquids to bypass from her oesophagus into her trachea when swallowed and ultimately her lungs causing her to choke. There are multiple types of TOF and due to the rarity of Poppy’s H-Type fistula and very little known about the condition itself by medical professionals, hers was missed at birth and we struggled to get a diagnosis until she was 8 months old. Poppy is now 11 months old and has already undergone four operations in her short life relating to her condition and the TOFS charity have been fantastic in providing us with information and support throughout the stressful times we have endured as a family.

Event details

TOFS Charity Fundraiser

Myself and my fiancé Caroline have organised a charity event which will take place on August 19th 2018 at the ground of Gedling Miners Welfare FC (Plains Road, Mapperley, Nottingham, NG3 5RH).

The event begins at 1.30pm and will include a charity football match between a team representing the TOFS charity (TOFS XI) vs a local Saturday league mens football team from Calverton (FC Geordie). On the day, there will also be various other activities going on including a raffle with prizes varying from a family ice skating pass, Notts County football tickets and much more.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all at Gedling Miners Welfare FC for allowing us to use their facilities for this event with special thanks to Chaleigh Osborne and Tony Hay for their help and continued support in making this event as successful as possible.
