Our beautiful daughter, Saarah, passed away in March 2011 aged four. She left a huge gap in our lives but also some wonderful memories. She was truly a miracle: born 11 weeks early, weighing 3lb 3oz, she overcame meningitis twice before she finally came home after 3 months. Then aged 1 she had pneumonia and a serious secondary infection. Remarkably she bounced back and for the next 3 years she enjoyed good health, before she suddenly and unexpectedly passed away in her sleep.
Saarah opened our eyes to the world of special needs children and showed us that with the right resources and a loving family, it is possible to overcome many challenges.
Saarah's Fund has been established in her memory. In the coming months and years, we hope to take part in lots of fundraising events to raise money to help other children like Saarah lead happy and fulfilling lives.
UK Special Needs Equipment Appeal
Last year Saarah's Fund provided funds for the purchase of a Play Train at the JR Hospital in Oxford and two bikes and a giant floor mirror at the Wheatley Integrated Nursery.
Saarah benefited hugely from having access to the right equipment and toys to help her learn and develop. Specialist equipment can be very expensive, but can help children make real progress.
