The Taking The High Road team (Philip Hunter, Rory Buckworth and Sam Day) became great friends at Newcastle University where this crazy idea was thought up. We all share many passions, in particular our ambition for a challenge and adventure. The idea was first discussed during our finals when endless hours spent in the library was enough to curb any desire for a desk job for the next year (or more)....function $th_doReturn(a){var b=document.getElementById('$th_texthelpReturnValueID');b!=null&&(b.setAttribute('result',a),a=document.createEvent('Events'),a.initEvent('$th_texthelpReturnEvent',!0,!1),b.dispatchEvent(a))};function rw_sendSocketMessage(aData){$th_doReturn(aData);};  function $th_doReturn(a){var b=document.getElementById('$th_texthelpReturnValueID');b!=null&&(b.setAttribute('result',a),a=document.createEvent('Events'),a.initEvent('$th_texthelpReturnEvent',!0,!1),b.dispatchEvent(a))};function rw_sendSocketMessage(aData){$th_doReturn(aData);};

Event details

Cycling from Shanghai (China) to Kathmandu (Nepal)

On the 5th February 2016 we embark on a 7000 km cycle from Shanghai to Kathmandu.The route will cover some of the most challenging environments on Earth, from the chaotic streets of Shanghai, along the rough roads of Myanmar to the highest mountain range on earth, the Himalayas. The aim is to raise money to build a rehabilitation centre for Nepalese children who have been trafficked into slavery. We have designed a self-sustainable, earthquake resistant centre that we will build with the aid of the local community in a suburb of Kathmandu. The centre will offer protection, education and food to 20 girls in desperate need.The cycle is self funded so 100% of the money raised will go directly to Chora Chori. We would be hugely grateful for donations of all sizes!    function $th_doReturn(a){var b=document.getElementById('$th_texthelpReturnValueID');b!=null&&(b.setAttribute('result',a),a=document.createEvent('Events'),a.initEvent('$th_texthelpReturnEvent',!0,!1),b.dispatchEvent(a))};function rw_sendSocketMessage(aData){$th_doReturn(aData);};
