Abs' and Sal's LEJOG Adventure
Unlikely cyclists riding end to end in memory of our best friend Fiona Strong and in support of those affected by cancer in young people.
Raising money for
Fiona Strong Memorial Fund
We are Abs & Sal and have been best friends since starting secondary school together in 1998.
In October 2015 one of our best friends, Fiona Strong, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Since the diagnosis we spent many an hour wondering what, if anything, we can do to help. We decided to take on a challenge Fiona would not be jealous of in the slightest and cycle the length of the UK.
Our challenge was originally set for April 2018, but Fiona took a turn for the worse during this month and sadly passed away on the 1st May. We postponed our trip to August, determined to complete the challenge and make our terribly missed friend proud.
In Fiona's last few weeks our fundraising focused on raising money for desperately needed Immunotherapy treatment for Fiona. Over £45,000 was raised thanks to the kind generosity of so many. It was Fiona's wish that the money goes to help others if she wouldn't be able to benefit from it herself and the Fiona Strong Memorial Fund has been set-up to do this. Any further sponsorship we raise for our challenge will be in aid of this cause.
Thank you to all those who have supported us to date.
Cycling 100 miles from Lands End to John O Groats
We will be setting off from Lands End on Sunday 19th August, taking the safe (and longer) way up the country, and finishing in John O Groats on Friday 31st August.
We have wonderful friends and family joining us on various legs of the journey and providing car support. There is still time to get involved! Follow our blog for more information and to keep track!
