Support for Mohammed El Sharef
Help us train and provide ongoing support to this Palestinian psycho-social counsellor who is working with traumatised children in Gaza.
Raising money for
Luna Children's Charity
Mohammed was a Project Manager for USAID, until last year when funding was withdrawn. He has ten years' experience of working with children in Gaza on behalf of international aid agencies and the UN. With your help, we got him to the UK for CATT training in mid November, but unfortunately his colleague Haitham has been unable to join him. Now we need to continue our fundraising to make the most of the remainder of his stay here, and develop a plan for his ongoing support. In Gaza, children live with the daily fear of becoming the victims of bullets and bombs and we really want Mohammed to be able to continue his work and to use his skills effectively when he returns home.
Luna's CATT training enables professionals working with children who have experienced war or violence to recover from traumatic symptoms and regain their childhoods.
THANKYOU for all your help to get us this far!
Donations requested for Mohammed's ongoing support
Luna sponsored Mohammed to join CATT training in Bristol in November. The course was run for people working in voluntary organisations which work with refugees from all over the world. It was led by experienced Bristol-based art psychotherapist and CATT trainer Anna Kalin, and attended by 11 people plus Mohammed. Now Mohammed is spending the last two weeks of his time in UK (18th November to 4th December) in meeting other people with expertise in child trauma, raising awareness of the needs of children in Gaza and planning his ongoing support from us and our sister charity Firefly International.
