Europe is facing the worst humanitarian crisis since the second World War. Twochildren have drowned every day on average since September 2015, many children, men and women continue to freeze and starve trying to reach safety.
RefuAid was formed in October 2015 in response to huge gaps in the humanitarian aid available to those arriving in Europe fleeing mass war and persecution. We are a small and independent NGO and being so means we are able to act quickly, respond to emergencies efficiently and avoid the bureaucratic ties of largerorganisations.RefuAid provide emergency relief, life-saving healthcare and sport initiatives to support refugees and the communities they are hosted in.
Spark: Tales of Escape - Raising funds for RefuAid
Spark recently presented true stories of ‘Escape’; gathering accounts from those connected with the current refugee crisis in the Middle East and Europe. From refugees recently arrived in London to aid workers working in camps from Calais to Pakistan, we heard unflinchingly honest accounts of being on the front line of this unfolding humanitarian disaster.
We believe in the power of true stories to connect people. Everyone who comes to a Spark night, or listens to the podcast, plays a big part in what we do.
Through our open mic nights and charity events we provide a platform for voices not usually given the time and space to offer their perspective.
