Hello my name is Simon Lee and I'm Head groundsman of Somerset CCC.
So if working over an 8 month period solid during the cricket season isn't hard enough I'm taking up the challenge of riding the big bike ride again! It's going to be hard going but it will be worth it to support 2 great charities helping to support people in times of need from the sport that I love, cricket. So just after the season ends we'll be setting off from Edgbaston, the home of Warwickshire CCC, head north to Sheffield over the Peak District and then down through the Welsh marshes to finish at the SSE SWALEC stadium in Cardiff, the home of Glamorgan CCC. The start and finish point are key to the event as Birmingham is the home of the PCA and Cardiff the home to the Tom Maynard Trust.
As some will know I enjoy my cycling and to be able to challenge myself physically and mentally over 5 days up and down hill with 60 other people also doing the ride will be great fun and a huge achievement. To do it also for to charities that have helped so many people over the years, come through the toughest things life can deal you and for that to be based around the cricketing world is very satisfactory indeed.

As part of the PCA's 50th Birthday celebrations and what is likely to be one of the last TMT's last major fund-raiser we’re going back on the road again! Staring with a Gala Dinner at Edgbaston on 12th October we will then be cycling from Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham and finishing at the SWALEC Stadium, Cardiff on 17th October. We hope you are up for joining us on this 5 day challenge!
