Sean's London Marathon Challenge
Since I was 12 or 13 & the London Marathon was run on my birthday I have wanted to run the famous race. I was lucky enough to secure a coveted ballot place from the hundreds of thousands of people who entered this year so that dream should become a reality.
I am not sure 30 years ago that I realised what running a marathon involved but hindsight, as they say is a wonderful thing!
I have had a lot of fun through my running journey completing numerous half marathons (including one as a giant squirrel) and this will be my 5th marathon. Before anyone asks, bat wings are not good for running due to the drag they create so running this one in costume may be a step too far...
The London Marathon is the biggest fundraising event in the world, so to help keep me going through the 50,000+ steps I thought it would be great to fundraise for two local charities that I am involved with - Kent Bat Group where I am a Trustee and Medway Asthma Self Help (MASH) where I volunteer.
The Bat Group does amazing work undertaking surveys to better understand bats in Kent, how they use the landscape & also a huge amount of work to engage the public & inspire people to conserve these amazing creatures through events such as bat walks and shows.
As an asthma sufferer, I know first-hand the value of the work that MASH does for people in north Kent helping people manage the disease.
Your donation will make a huge difference & by using BT MyDonate ensures that all of your donation except the card handling fee goes to the charities.
