Just Walk for Home-Start Butser
Home-Start became a part of my life in July 2010. My baby boy was 4 months old and I was a mess. Ozzy was dairy intolerant and I hadn’t slept properly for weeks. I was on my own, with no support from anyone, lonely, depressed, and isolated. My health visitor suggested Home-Start, and I said yes. Since then I haven’t looked back. Judith, a volunteer, came to see me once a week, without fail. With her support, honesty and tenacity I pulled through the darkness and started going out. I attended the family group every Friday morning where I chatted to others in similar situations with a welcome cup of coffee. It was a unique opportunity for us to support each other.
After 4 years I moved and built a new life for me and Ozzy who was ready to go to school.
During this time I had the continued unconditional support of Judith who became my friend, surrogate mum and a wonderful role model for Ozzy.
I’m now working part time and we are settled in our flat in the countryside.
I want to give something back to Home-Start Butser and give myself a goal.
I’m doing a 20K Walk on Saturday 13th May starting and finishing at Goodwood in Chichester, walking from 75m up to 225m above sea level in some of the most beautiful parts of the country.
Charities like Home-Start are needed now more than ever as the Government cuts hit Children’s Services. They provide life changing support to families and children who are at a scary and lonely time in their lives.
Please support me to raise essential funds for Home-Start Butser as I prepare for my hike in May. Thank you.
