About

As educators of young people, we regularly encourage our students to take on personal chall enges. Therefore we decided that is was time that we too took on a personal physical challenge that would require planning, training and teamwork.

We have chosen to raise money for Smile for ME and Papyrus as these are two chairities that mean a great deal to us as a group but also to our school.

Smile for ME was set up by two teenagers in order to support those suffering from ME. We have seen first hand the impact ME can have on a young person's life and have a number of our students who already raise money for this charity.

Papyrus is the national UK charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide. Suicide still remains one of the biggest killers of young people in the UK, which is something we have sadly experienced within our own and other schools.

The Sankey Scramblers are:

Elaine Davies, Shona Wilson, Chris Newns, Michael Hay, Emma Hammond, Sam Cosgrove, Georgina Roughley, Katrina Beswick, Kirsty Turner, Carina Bird, Martin Smith, Lee Gallagher, Sean Parker, Matt Bentham and Lilly Lo.

Event details

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

On Saturday 23rd June, we will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge which will entail 24 miles and 5200ft of ascent. We will be setting our alarms extra early to set off at 6:30am from Chapel le Dale and will return by 6:30pm in order to complete the challenge.
The first peak on our route will be Ingleborough (2372ft) which is arguably the toughest peak in terms of ascent. Then we will pass through Horton in Ribblesdale before scaling Pen-y-ghent (2277ft). Our final peak will be Whernside which is the tallest of the three peaks (2415ft) but strangely the easiest of the three. After we descend from here, we will have just a few more miles back to the finish line at Chapel le Dale
