About

I went to the Jungle Calais in 2016 and what I saw, I will never be able to forget.  My eyes were opened to the humanitarian crisis on our doorstep, and no one seemed to be in charge! I kept thinking where are Save the Children - why isn't anyone dealing with this?? If you've read the paper you will know  'Help Refugees' WERE there, and still are helping these people. Human beings whom for the most part through no fault of their own have had to flee their homes, their families and their countries.  Stripped of their identities and treated like 3rd class citizens.  Often they are educated people that have had to experience and see pain that no human should have to endure.

With EU Funding in Greece being cut and large NGOs pulling out, Help Refugees will need to fill more gaps than ever ensuring enough nutritious food is available for families, providing nappies, maintaining water and sanitation, funding community centres and much more besides.

I have been wild swimming all year round for some time, with a group of incredible friends and this seems like the perfect challenge to push our boundaries and raise much-needed funds for this brilliant organisation.

Event details

The 5km Arctic Swim!

The first part of the challenge:
2000 m - The first 2k will be during the day on Saturday. We will start at the beach north of the Arctic Circle and arrive at the finish-line south of the Arctic Circle. We will have swum over the national boarder to Finland.

The second part of the challenge:
3000 m - Night swimming in the bright nordic summer night. Starting from the Finish shore just after midnight, Finnish time. We will swim over the border between Sweden and Finland and across the Arctic Circle and the time zone. Anyone who is able to swim the distance in less than 60 minutes will actually cross the finish-line before the day the competition began.

Please show your support for the millions of displaced people across the world by donating to this page and sharing this fundraiser with your social networks.

My donation is not very big, if I had more money I would help with a bigger amount of money. But still being little I hope to be able to help.
