In 2015 tragically Ruth's son Jethro-Courage died very suddenly in his sleep, he was 20 months old. This was such a huge shock as he hadn't been poorly, 12hrs before his death, Jethro's sister, Jubilee Praise, had been born, it was discovered that she had a heart condition that would need surgery, so coming to terms with so much trauma was tough.
They decided to go to Peppa Pig World one day with Jethro's older brother and sister (Elijah and Eponine) whilst Jubilee was still in hospital. For the first time in a long time they saw smiles on the faces of the children and realised it was ok to laugh again and find a new normal.
Ruth and her husband Tony decided to set a charity up, for bereaved children and families who have suffered the loss of a sibling or parent - to give annual passes to theme parks of their choice so that other families can find their new normal. After being an official charity for 2 years they've supported around 50 families with more applications coming in.
The Eastleigh 10k is not only a challenge because we haven't ever ran this sort of distance, but it will also mark the month of the 3rd anniversary of Jethro's death.
Please help us by giving generously to raise awareness and help other families who have suffered bereavement. Every penny raised goes to the charity and will help spur us over the finish line.
