Running for Rose
Kate and Hugh Adlington
Very sadly, our baby daughter Rose was stillborn at full term on 3 October 2014 after a healthy pregnancy. We learned in early labour that Rose had died. She was born a day later, with the amazing support of doctors and midwives at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.
Losing Rose was heartbreaking. In the months that followed, then, we were fortunate to hear of The Laura Centre, a bereavement counselling service for parents and children. The kind, nurturing support of their experienced counsellors helped to get us back on our feet.
Currently housed in UHCW, The Laura Centre is nearing its £150,000 target to create a new centre in Warwickshire. To celebrate Rose, to honour friends and family who've supported us, and to thank TLC and help them secure new premises this year, we'll get running...
Running for Rose
Running for Rose I: parkrun, Saturday 3 October 2015
On what would have been Rose's first birthday, we'll take part together in the wonderful phenomenon of parkrun, as runners, joggers, volunteers and supporters of this 5k event. Kate and Hugh will take part in Leamington Spa, and will be joined by family and friends in person or at parkruns around the country.
Running for Rose II: Seagrave Wolds Challenge, Saturday 7 November 2015
The Seagrave Wolds Challenge is a 16-mile cross-country run or walk in the beautiful Leicestershire countryside. It is renowned for its tea and cake stops, and for the superb homemade crumble and custard that greets runners and walkers at the finish. Our team will consist of runners, walkers, marshals and crumble makers!
