Run for James
James, Helen and new recruit Wayne Barrett are running the Edinburgh marathon in memory of our dear friend James and to raise some much needed funding for organisations which helped him through some of his numerous health challenges.
James always inspired us with his positive attitude and his love of sports. He is now helping us to get through our training as best we can. unfortunately, Nick, who originally signed up to run the marathon, has broken his ankle in a parachuting accident. He could have just said he didn't fancy it! Wayne has amazingly stepped up to run in Nick's stead, with just over 8 weeks to go till the race. Wayne has hit the training hard and has said he really loves it and may consider running an ultra marathon in the future.
Edinburgh Marathon 2018
On 27th May 2018, James Reddish, Helen Jenkins and Wayne Barrett will be running the Edinburgh Marathon. We decided to do this challenge in order to raise money in memory of our dear friend James Griffiths, who sadly passed away last April, aged 36, following complications after a major heart operation. For those that knew him, James was a constant inspiration as he constantly tackled health issues and challenges, always doing so with his unique sense of positivity, humour and wit. Something we all need to channel through our training!
We are raising money for three different charities: the Harefield hospital charity, where James was treated for many years and underwent a number of major heart operations; the Friends of Bristol Eye Hospital, where James was treated for multiple eye issues over a number of years; and the British Heart Foundation, which is close to Helen’s heart (pun intended) and is the biggest funder of cardiovascular research in the UK.
James's family have organised a Ball in April in James's memory, to celebrate his life and to raise funds for the Harefield and Eye Hospital charities. Our fundraising will supplement funds raised at this event.
