About
Out of the box fundraising for LRSG - this one asks you to sponsor my first apple harvest from 20 Cornish variety trees in my field.
I live in Launceston, Cornwall and aside from being part of LRSG, I am a non-commercial fruit farmer and non-competitive cyclist.

Picking Apples for Refugees
About 4 years ago I acquired a hectare of land up the Kensey Valley which I am slowly converting from long term pasture to a productive open woodland garden (aka orchard!).
A mix of different fruit trees and shrubs of various varieties. About 20+ local Cornish apple trees all on slow growing rootstock have gone in - this year some have the first apples.
At the beginning of August they had between one and over 30 apples each - there will be attrition as birds and wasps get stuck in before they ripen, but I should have some fruit this year - HOW MANY? Could be as many as 400 apples (pretty unlikely), or as few as 2 dozen. Most likely about 100.
Sponsor the harvest at a few pence per apple.
Make a base donation of a fiver and email rogerco at lrsg dot org dot uk with the pence per apple you'll give on top and I'll contact you in late October to let you know the how many are in my basket. You can set a maximum you can afford to give if you wish, just in case they all mature and you foolishly offered a pound an apple!
Come to the October LRSG meeting for the results and claim a taste of old apple.
NB - don't forget to email me.
