Rob Kelly

It's been several years since I asked you to buy me a coffee or a beer. I need support & motivation to complete the RideLondon100.

So my body is beginning to fail. It’s been a crap 12 months for injuries. Left knee cartilage finally given up, disassociated carpel bones in my right wrist & whilst training last Oct I fell off my road bike, hit a car & just found out I've torn the tendons in my right shoulder

But, there are people out there worse off than me. I’m able to get on a bike & ride

My wife Jo has been a volunteer at HomeStart for 5 years & via Jo I've seen an amazing support framework helping young families deal with the challenges they face. The families may have been affected by isolation, domestic abuse, bereavement, poverty, mental illness. HomeStart supports the parents, who learn to cope, improve their confidence & build better lives for their children

I’ve seen how HomeStart gives families a chance to grow as a family & work through some pretty tough challenges. Challenges I've never endured & challenges my children probably won't ever have to face. It's a fantastic charity supported by volunteers across the country. Every pound, euro or dollar you donate will help pay for the infrastructure to train more volunteers to help more families have a better chance in life

Event details

With the support of HomeStart Guildford I am entering the Ride London in July. I've watched this event every year and always said it would be good to compete. I live in the Surrey Hills which is a perfect training ground. So thanks to HomeStart Guildford, 2017 is THE year before anymore of my old body stops working.

Please do check out HomeStart's vision. They want to see a society in which every parent has the support they need to give their children the best possible start in life.

You don't just have to give money, you can give your time. One morning each week will go a long way to improving the lives of children and parents who need help, support and guidance.

If you see me riding around the roads or hills of Surrey happy for you to cheer me on. Rather than stopping me to buy a cuppa coffee or pint of beer, please put a couple of quid onto this page. You will be helping someone improve their life.

Thank you.
