PRINCESS ROYAL’S VOLUNTEER CORPS | FIRST AID NURSING YEOMANRY (FANY)
We are full time members of the PRVC meaning yes, we are FANYs!
Following the success of the Ride4Nancy (2014), we have decided to take to the peddles again!
Kath & Sian are personally funding their cycle and would appreciate any support or sponsorship you are able to provide to go towards the FANY and in recognition of those who have gone before us.
We will be cycling some 400miles from Beaulieu in the New Forest, one of the SOE finishing schools, to Valencay France where we will join other members of the FANY and members of the Fédération Nationale Libre Résistance for the annual ceremony and service, recognising the 104 members who gave their lives.
Lise de Baissac and Andree Borrel were recruited as SOE (Special Operations Executive), coordinating several assignments including sabotage missions, weapons drops, and establishing landing sites for other agents. Their actions made a huge contribution to the War effort and supported the British & French resistance in occupied France.
To commemorate their extraordinary acts of bravery, courage and heroism, two current FANYs, Katherine Gale and Sian Morris, are retracing the journey on bicycles.
