Donations accepted until 14-09-2017
Jacques and Rich are both members of CVSRT. The team is in the process of upgrading our radio equipment. As part of this process, we need to set up some radio repeaters at fixed points around Calderdale to improve communications.
Each repeater costs roughly £1500 and we're aiming to cover the cost of as many of these as possible.
We're climbing the Matterhorn via the Lion Ridge and paying for the trip ourselves, so 100% of the money raised goes straight to CVSRT!
Climbing the Matterhorn
With its peak at 4478m above sea level (14692 ft), the Matterhorn is truly iconic.
We're going to be climbing it via the Lion ridge (Cresta del Leone), which takes two days, staying at the Carrel Hut overnight before climbing the final 650m, summiting and descending on the second day.
We will be staying in Chamonix where most of our trip will be spent acclimatising to the altitude and practising the techniques that will be required on the Matterhorn. This is because success relies on being able to move quickly and efficiently when we're on the hill - if we take too long, we'll simply run out of time. The picture a the top of the page shows the route we'll be taking.
