Unfortunately my Dad lost his battle with Leukaemia last summer having fought it bravely for several years. During that period he spent a considerable amount of time at Christie's undergoing tests and receiving transfusions etc. The HaTs charity (Haematology and Transplant Support) helped him immeasurably throughout that time
He became popular with the staff at the clinic and he made an effort to help them out in any way he could.
Dad was a keen cyclist and despite the illness carried on cycling with his mates for the majority of the period he was ill.
The HaTs charity organises the Tour de Manc and Dad was an enthusiastic supporter of the inaugural event in 2016.
We were absolutely delighted when the charity announced they would be naming this years event "The Chas Collins Memorial Tour De Manc" in his honour,
The 2017 Chas Collins Memorial Tour de Manc
In aid of the HaTs charity I am going to cycle the full 100 miles of this years Tour de Manc. There are some seriously tough climbs to overcome in the process. (For those that live near me, Cowlishaw Rd is one of them)
