The aim of this trip is to fundraise £40,000 to support refugees in Athens. As a relay group we will cycle from London to Athens in 7 weeks.
Raising money for
Hello family and friends,
Thanks for getting this far....
Who are we fundraising for?
ALL money raised (we are paying separately for travel, accommodation and provisions along the way) goes to Khora a humanitarian co-operative foundation based in Athens. The group of volunteers there are experienced in providing services for refugees, including mental health, support work, building and teaching.
The road ahead...
My part in this mammoth expedition is to join week 4 of the cycle from Milan - Trieste. This Italian leg of the trip will involve 120km of cycling/day, sometimes climbing into the Italian alps, sometimes whizzing along lakeside roads.
I'm aiming to raise £500 to contribute to the big pot.
Why have I signed up?
Joining forces with a group of like minded people to raise for money for such a worthy cause and enable the amazing work that Khora do to continue seems like the least I can do.
The positive community spirit at the heart of organising the cycle and the adventures that will be had along the way is what life is about.
Thank you in advance for your generous donation, I'm hoping my thighs won't let you down!
Thighs of Steel 2017
We are fundraising for Help Refugees, who fund small grassroots refugee organisations. The specific group we are fundraising for is Khora, a co-operative made up of volunteers from all over the world, including the local Greek community, the refugee community and other international volunteers. Their community centre in Athens provides not only basic needs such as free nutritious food, warm clothing and access to dental care, but also social needs such as education, child care, access to information and a safe space to build relationships and relax.
