Event details

Opening up Latvian society to fostering

In early 2017 investigative journalists in Latvia uncovered unappealing truth about "the children of the system" - toddlers and children that live in orphanages. The system effectively motivates the social services to retain the status quo - 1,500 kids living in orphanages instead of joining foster families. is a new charity that by 2021 aims to close all orphanages in Latvia.
Plecs translates as a shoulder. The charity commits to become a shoulder to lean on for those people, who are considering becoming foster parents.

We are fundraising to support the work of Plecs - helping recruiting foster families, educating on fostering, consulting on various formalities, creating foster families networking groups, representing foster families in communication with social services.

Throughout the months of April and May of 2018, the Embassy of Latvia in UK is organising several concerts and receptions in London.
The Ambassador of Latvia to UK, Ms Baiba Braze is inviting the guests of selected events to donate towards support of Plecs cause.

Any donations towards the support of Plecs' cause are highly appreciated.
