I'm a rather old cyclist very keen to support this wonderful project where Jo, our lovely daughter, has been volunteering for the past year. My wife spent two weeks there recently and was bowled over by the energy and commitment of the volunteers and many of the refugees. The UK/EU response to the refugee situation is shamefully inadequate, and, in my very small way, I'm hoping to help the many individuals who are working tirelessly to keep this place going.
Thighs of Steel 2017
We are fundraising for Help Refugees, who fund small grassroots refugee organisations. The specific group we are fundraising for is Khora, a co-operative made up of volunteers from all over the world, including the local Greek community, the refugee community and other international volunteers. Their community centre in Athens provides not only basic needs such as free nutritious food, warm clothing and access to dental care, but also social needs such as education, child care, access to information and a safe space to build relationships and relax.
