Completed the ride last year. Hope to again in '17
I have been a member of Cardboard Citizens for four years, and a members representative for nearly three years. I have completed Peer Mentoring and Forum courses, as well as being a member of the 22-person ensemble who performed a stage adaptation of Ken Loachs "Cathy Come Home" in July 2016. I had a small supporting role in the play entitled "Henrietta" performed during the recent "Home Truths" season, and was a member of the choir supporting the Act Now members performing at the Fund-raising Gala dinner.
I cycle several times a week to travel to the Cardboard Citizens and Streetwise Opera offices, and to Highgate Ponds where I am a regular swimmer. At this time of year, and with this cycling event in mind, I am beginning to also undertake longer and more demanding cycle rides to take advantage of the more pleasant weather conditions and build up my endurance for the 100-mile ride.
Last year I took the ride at a fairly relaxed pace to enable me to complete the ride comfortable, including regular feeding and re-hydration stops.
I wish all riders will a safe and comfortable ride without serious incidents or need for medical attention.
Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 2017
Celebrating the legacy for cycling created by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 starts in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and then follows a 100-mile route on closed roads through the capital and into Surrey’s stunning countryside. With leg-testing climbs and a route made famous by the world’s best cyclists at the London 2012 Olympics, it’s a truly spectacular event for all involved.
Every penny raised will go to support the work of Cardboard Citizens with homeless and vulnerable young people and adults in London and beyond. Your support is needed now more than ever as homelessness and the demand for our services continues to rise.
