Raising money for
Dementia Support South Lincs
Donations accepted until 08-11-2017
Having run my last Half Marathon in 2010, I decided it was time to focus on completing another one. It would appear that with getting older, it takes longer to recover from niggling injuries. Touch wood, training is going well. I am at the Gym 3 times a week and have recently started running on the road again.
Why raise money for Dementia Support South Lincs? Well, my daughter, Danie works with the charity and having had first hand experience with my Mum suffering from Dementia, I know what a valuable service the charity provides. The support it gives is fantastic. Mum was able to attend a session which she thoroughly enjoyed. I'm certain she would have continued to enjoy them had her own personal circumstances allowed.
The NHS website states that there are around 850,000 people living with Dementia. DSSL do not receive any statutory funding from the Government. This means that the charity relies on donations and fundraising. These funds are used to provide activities and support for people with Dementia and their families, enabling them to live well with Dementia.
Thank you for reading this. Any monies you are able to donate will be greatly appreciated.
