For some crazy reason me and my best friend Sally have set ourselves the ridiculous challenge of cycling 600km from Thessaloniki to Athens this summer, in no more than 6 days!

For those of you lucky enough to know us, the image that such a spectacle evokes should already be enough of a cause for you to empty out your pockets and wallets in a heartbeat. BUT, we are doing this for something so much more than cheap laughs at our expense…

We are raising money for Khora, an incredible, grass-roots, community-run refugee charity in Athens that provides dignified and respectful help to people who have been stripped of almost everything. All money raised goes directly to Khora, so please give as much as you possibly can (even if that’s very little) to this AWESOME cause, I really appreciate your help and support.

Thank you for stopping by and see you on the other side when I have absolute THIGHS of STEEL

Orla :-)

London to Athens 2018

A group of not-so-serious cyclists have set themselves the serious challenge of cycling between London and Athens. The ride is a relay-style challenge, with each participant taking on a week or two of the overall trip.

We are fundraising for Khora; a grassroots, proactive association running a community centre in Athens. Their centre provides basic and human needs for people without freedom of movement. This includes free nutritious food, clothing, education, access to information and a safe space to build relationships and relax.

Equally important to what they offer, is how they offer it. Khora is run by volunteers from all over the world. Its team includes members of the local Greek community, the refugee community and other international volunteers too. It prioritises dignity and respect in every service it provides.

The £60,000 we are aiming to raise will pay for the rent for their community centre for an entire year. The running costs of a project are typically the hardest to find funding for, so it of particular importance to be able to provide this for Khora, to secure a stable future for the project. All fund-raised money goes to Khora, and none on the ride.
