My Running Year and a Half
On 13th July 2014 I had a cycle accident that resulted in me landing on my head breaking 2 bones in my neck and 3 in my back. In the immediate aftermath of my accident I was completely paralysed from the neck down and flown by Helicopter from the scene to the Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Injuries Unit for Scotland within the Glasgow Southern General Hospital. I had severely stretched but not snapped my spinal cord. As I spent a week in Intensive care receiving specialist Nursing, feeling started coming back into my arms and legs. I was then transferred into a Rehabilitation ward where I received more great Medical and Physiotherapy care that led to me moving from my bed to a wheelchair to walking again within 3 weeks. I got home soon thereafter and within 3 months I was back at work. I'm not yet 100% as I still have some issues in my spinal cord but I'm an awful lot better than I was in July.

I have gradually worked up my health and fitness.
