Spine Race 2017
I'm raising funds to buy camping equipment for my Scout troop by undertaking the biggest (and scariest!) challenge I have attempted yet.

I don't normally do the sponsorship thing. I'm often away on races and adventures. I do it for fun and I don't like to ask for money. But...
This time I have a very good reason for trying to raise money; my Scout troop is in dire need of camping equipment. And this race is different, I'll be pushing the limits of my endurance more than ever before.
I have Scouting to thank for my love of the outdoors and crazy adventures. I pay that back by volunteering as a leader, helping run what used to be my troop. Each patrol used to have a box full of camping equipment and I am hoping to raise enough money to kit the whole troop out again.
Camping is a big part of Scouts not just because it's a lot of fun, but because it teaches life skills: planning, problem solving, teamwork, initiative, independence and practical skills... and the memories last a lifetime!
Your donation will help us to deliver that experience to the next generations of young people.
The Spine Race 2017
"Britain's most brutal race"
The Spine Race is a 268 mile, non-stop footrace along the entire Pennine Way from Edale in the Peak District to Kirk Yetholm in Scotland. In January. Crossing some of the most beautiful and, at times difficult terrain found in England.
'Expect to race through extreme weather, deep snow, ice, mud, bogs, strong winds and rain in a gruelling non-stop, 7 day race.'
Less than half of the starters are likely to finish.
“The Spine® Race is easy apart from:- its dark most of the time; your feet then body will fall apart; the compulsory baggage doesn’t get any lighter; sleep is a luxury; you experience extremes of weather and cold; and finally of course it’s 268 miles long. Many will try to break the Spine® but most will become race statistics. Good luck to all who enter!”
