About
Oliver was born in April 2012. When he didn’t respond to the new-born hearing screening test my cousin Alan and his wife Katie, didn’t think too much about it, but it started a chain of events leading to Oliver being diagnosed as deaf at just 6 weeks old. He has worn hearing aids since he was 5 months old and is currently being assessed for cochlear implants. He is now a gorgeous 16 month old little boy with a cheeky smile and lovely temperament.
Oliver is our family's first ever experience of deafness. 90% of deaf children are born into families with no experience of hearing loss. The last 12 months have been an emotional roller coaster for my cousin Alan and his wife Katie and their two other boys Thomas and Liam.

Niamh' Sky Dive
On Saturday 14th September I am going to do a skydive to help raise much needed funds for the Wigan and Leigh Deaf Children's Society. This charity was set up by my cousin Alan and his wife Katie, after their son Ollie was born deaf. Anything you can donate will go to an excellent support service. Please give generously!
