Hiya! I'm Neil, I'm 39 and I have cerebral palsy.
Woodlarks is a camp that caters for people with disabilities and I have been a camper there for the last 15 years! I first heard about the charity from a woman I met in derby nightclubbing 16 years ago (the best conversations come from nights like these!) and she said to me I know a place you would fit in perfectly, and the rest is history! I have been going there ever since and it really is like a second family. It is a place where you can go and experience a range of activities such as water skiing, laser tag, trampolining, musical workshops, arts and crafts and fun day trips out to mention a few! We have even had rides out in a helicopter!
The camps at Woodlarks campsite cater for a range of disabilities from hearing and visual impairments, to physical and mental disabilities and everyone is equal here. Sometimes the volunteers who come to help out have the most fun of us all - it really isn't prejudice towards anyone.
Woodlarks is helping spread awareness of all sorts of disabilities & encouraging families & Duke of Edinburgh students to volunteer, which in turn allows for a better understanding of our personal situations!
I will be falling out of a plane from over 13,000ft high on Saturday October 13th at Langar Airfield just outside Nottingham! If you'd like to come and watch me please get in touch on Facebook! Would love all the support I can get!!
