Why I'm saying byebye to my bed...
Hello! My name is Chris and I'm a PhD student living in Bath and Barnet, UK. Ten months ago my friend Joe and I lived outdoors for a month to raise money for Save the Children's Syria Crisis Appeal. By the end of the month people had donated over £2000 and I vowed to never step foot in a tent ever again.
One year on, and the Assad regime and jihadist insurgent groups continue to inflict almost unimaginable suffering upon the Syrian people, whose only crime was to demand democracy and an end to dictatorship.
The regime's violent crackdown on peaceful protest, and subsequent fighting, have left over 150,000 dead and over 9 million people, half of them children, displaced.
Save the Children are doing vital life-saving and life-changing work in and around Syria, providing food, safe water, medicines and shelter. But resources and funds are limited - they need your help.
I've love to get back to a bed so please help me get to £2000 ASAP!!
Raising for Save the Children's Syria Appeal
The bravery and resolve of many Syrians, in the face of such inhumanity, pain and loss of life, is inspirational.
For those of us in relative luxury and comfort, the very least we can do is to show solidarity with those who have been left most vulnerable by the violence. So, small gesture as it might be, I'm dusting off the tent and living outdoors for another month in the hope that you lovely people will send some much needed funds over to Save the Children. Please, please make the month of sleep deprivation and back pain worth it, and donate now!
