Lead Porter at Sheffield Park. Well, I did it in 3.5 hours but the last 2 miles were a bit of a nightmare - very tired and cramp in one leg - perhaps my body was trying to tell me something. However, once you have left Horstead you can't do much else but carry on. So, after completing the challenge it would be nice to get some sponsorship in retrospect from this site for my sterling efforts!!! Thanks for looking.
Bluebell Railway Track Trek 2017
Many thanks to everyone who took part in the Bluebell Railway's 5th sponsored "Track Trek", an 11 mile walk between East Grinstead and Sheffield Park stations on Saturday 18 November 2017.
The walk took place during the daytime, raising money for the Tr(ack) Action Appeal, that was formally launched in October. This is an appeal set up to raise £250,000 for the renewal of track along parts of the Railway. The target for the Track Trek is to raise £15,000 which will buy a new 60 foot track panel.
A complimentary bus service operated to take trekkers from Sheffield Park to East Grinstead in the morning and then back to their original starting point at the end of the Track Trek.
Participants registered in advance for the Trek. Details of this are available at www.bluebell-railway.me.uk/fund/TrackTrek2017.pdf
