Thighs of Steel - 2017 ride to Athens (week 2)
Last year my daughter Harriet mobilised 50 valiant people to cycle in relays to Athens in 6 weeks. They raised an AWESOME £48,000 for a charity that supports refugees, called Khora. With the money raised plus other donations received Khora rented a 7 storey block in Athens, hiring teachers, dentists, lawyers and others to alleviate the difficulties faced by incoming refugees as well as providing around 500+ free meals a day.
Their achievement is totally humbling and I'm proud to be cycling one leg of the route - some 600 km between Paris and Lyon - this year to raise money for the Khora community.
So please help! Give as much as you can - this is truly inspirational stuff!! Dig deep to create as much pain as me cycling 600 km in 6 days, and "wild camping" i.e. no bed and shower (!).
COME ON - EMPTY THOSE WALLETS!!
Much appreciated and you will have my undying respect.
PS check out the video from last year to get a feel for the challenge .......

We are fundraising for Help Refugees, who fund small grassroots refugee organisations. The specific group we are fundraising for is Khora, a co-operative made up of volunteers from all over the world, including the local Greek community, the refugee community and other international volunteers. Their community centre in Athens provides not only basic needs such as free nutritious food, warm clothing and access to dental care, but also social needs such as education, child care, access to information and a safe space to build relationships and relax.
