Running the Marathon for Blue Elephant Theatre
The Blue Elephant Theatre is a very special place; it is both a vibrant fringe venue which supports emerging artists to bring new, exciting work to audiences, and also a community hub on a disadvantaged housing estate with a wealth of participation opportunities. It does weekly workshops in schools, runs two youth theatres, works with mental health service users, creates training plays and much more. The theatre needs your support to continue its participation work with underprivileged young people and as a venue for aspiring writers and performers.
Due to government spending cuts, BET’s local authority funding for core activities has been reduced in recent years, which is very worrying.
I've been involved BET for several years, and I know it has changed many peoples’ lives for the better. Many thanks for reading this and I hope you can support the Blue Elephant.
Running the London Marathon for BET
I plan to run the London marathon on April 23rd, 2017, for the Blue Elephant Theatre. It's a long way and my training has been hindered by a dodgy achilles, so it might end up as a very long walk!
Anyway, if you sponsor me, it will help keep me going and you can think of me suffering! I did a long bike ride for BET in 2015, but that was over 9 days, involved plenty of nice meals and I was sitting down and pedaling. The marathon is shorter, sharper and could be much more painful (!).
