Running for Iris
I'm running the Virgin Sport British 10k on 15th July, raising money for the British Thyroid Foundation as our baby Iris has congenital hypothyroidism
Raising money for
British Thyroid Foundation
I'm Mum to 3 year old Thomas and 6 month old Iris. When Iris was 12 days old, she was diagnosed with congenital hypothyroidism and we discovered that she was born without a thyroid. We are very lucky for the early diagnosis and that her condition is treatable with medication (which she'll take for the rest of her life - without treatment she'd be likely to have impaired physical and mental development). I wanted to raise money for the British Thyroid Foundation, who provide information about thyroid problems and support for people who suffer from these conditions and their families. A 10k run will also force me to dig out my running shoes and attempt to lose my mummy tummy. My husband Simon will be left holding the babies while I train. Wish me luck!
