Movember VHL Fundraising
Von Hippel Lindau (VHL) disease is a genetic disorder. Those living with the disease can develop a series of benign and malignant tumours in the retina, brain and spinal cord, kidneys, pancreas, inner ear and adrenal glands. The condition affects around 1 in 36,000 people.
My partner Sian Howell has this condition and last year had to have spinal surgery to remove a tumour on her spinal cord. VHL doesn't get a lot of funding so we wanted to take part in Movember to raise money for a really worthwhile cause.
The VHL gene is involved in many other types of cancer and so research into this rare disease can help other types of cancer research as well.
