About

This is my chance to do something for a charity that is extremely close to my heart.

My wife was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in May 2012, she was 29 at the time.

June 2012 saw her having a Mastectomy and Lymph nodes removed, followed by 6 lots of Chemo.  She then elected to have a second Mastectomy (with initial reconstruction) just in case the second breast became infected.  Radiotherapy to the infected side over 15 days saw us into 2013.

Whilst on a more targeted 3 weekly treatment she was rushed into hospital with complications in March 2014.  We were told the cancer had spread to her lungs.  The cancer is now terminal.

Since March 2014 she has been on a highly targeted chemo treatment called Kadcyla.  Again, every 3 weeks the treatment is given and it has reduced the size of the tumors such that they are undetectable at the current resolution of the CT Scanners; one larger tumor is currently being managed.

Along with Lymphedema she is still battling on and your donation will help towards the aim of ensuring by 2050 that anyone who develops Breast Cancer will live.

Event details

Running 100 Miles

I have entered the Robin Hood 100 - Hobo Pace, which is a 100 mile race and is due to start on the morning of 16 Sep 2017.

This is going to be a very big challenge for me, as the longest distance I have covered by foot is half a marathon (13.3 miles).  I really am not an endurance athlete and have very little time to train, making it even more challenging.  However, I have my mind set on completing the full distance in less than 24 hours.

The course is off road and is run through Sherwood Forest.  The cut off time is 30 hours, but as mentioned I do plan to finish in less than 24 hours.

Your support is greatly appreciated.  Thank you.
