For the people who know me, you will know I am not a runner however the story of a young lady called Alice Ruggles really touched my heart for several reasons. Having two boys has given me the motivation to show them stalking and coercive behaviour will not be tolerated and has devastating consequences.
I will be competing in this years Great North Run to support a fantastic cause. The Alice Ruggles Trust aim to ensure the safety and wellbeing of anyone who may be in a similar situation to Alice.
One person may find it challenging to make a difference however if we all unite we can show how such behaviours will not be tolerated and hopefully help protect and support a loved one.
Great North Run 2018
The Great North Run is the world's greatest half-marathon with over 50,000 runners. It passes through Gateshead, where Alice was murdered in 2016, and Alice's mum Sue ran the GNR in the following year 2017, raising over £10,000 for Women's Aid. In 2018 several runners, including Alice's dad Clive, will be taking part in the GNR to raise funds for the Trust.
